At 7:21 p.m., officers responded to Walmart for a shoplifter, later identified as Diane Perez-Cortes, a 57-year-old Franklin woman, in custody by loss prevention, Mount Olive police said.

Loss prevention said Perez-Cortes was formally banned from all Walmart stores due to previous shoplifting attempts, police said. They observed Ms. Perez-Cortes in the store and watched her conceal multiple items on her person before attempting to exit without paying, police said.

Perez-Cortes was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, police said. She was charged with shoplifting and criminal trespassing, police said.
